Working meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova

On July the 2nd, 2019, the Internal Affairs Minister Carmen DAN had a working meeting with Andrei Năstase, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, in which she highlighted the very good cooperation between the two ministries. The meeting took place in the context of the visit to Romania of the Moldovan delegation headed by Prime Minister Maia SANDU. During the discussions, Minister Carmen DAN reiterated the direct support that the Romanian Ministry of Internal Affairs will continue to give in the reform process involving the Moldovan counterpart, in order to strengthen the European path. She also emphasized upon the fact that the Romanian counterpart has very well-trained experts in all areas, including the European standards, mentioning the successful conclusion of the EU Council Presidency, with many achievements on the internal affairs component. During the meeting, a number of priorities were set for the next period, focusing upon combating cross-border crime and illegal migration, border management, police cooperation, emergency assistance, and staff training. For the continuation and development of these projects, the two officials agreed upon a new form of cooperation through periodic expert meetings, these meetings taking place in the Republic of Moldova and Romania. Issues related to strengthening regional cooperation have also been addressed, including from the perspective of the future participation of Ukrainian authorities in co-operation activities within the Galați Joint Contact Center. After the official meeting of the Ministry of Interior, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova was invited to visit the headquarters of the Romanian Border Police General Inspectorate, where the facilities of the Romanian authorities regarding border surveillance and control will be presented.
