Until today, on August 2nd, in Romania, 53.186  cases of people infected with COVID – 19 virus (coronavirus) have been confirmed.

27.592 were declared cured and discharged and 4.777  asymptomatic patients were discharged at 10 days after detection.

Following the tests performed at national level, compared to the last report, 1.075 new cases of people infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (COVID – 19) were registered, these being cases that had not previously had a positive test. The distribution by counties of the total and new cases can be found in the table below:

Aside from the newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who were already positive, 492 people were reconfirmed positively. The distribution by county of these cases can be found in the table below:

At the same time, so far, 2.413 people diagnosed with COVID-19 died.

Between 1.08.2020 (10:00) – 2.08.2020 (10:00) were registered 34 deaths (22 men and 12 women), of some patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Argeș, Bacău, Brăila, Buzău, Călărași, Dâmbovița, Galați, Gorj, Mehedinți, Prahova, Teleorman, Timiș, Ilfov .and Bucharest.

Among these,  4 deaths were recorded in the age group 50-59 years, 10 deaths in the age category 60-69 years, 11 deaths in the age category 70-79 years and 9 deaths in the age category over 80 years.

In all cases, death occurred in patients who had comorbidities.

In the specialized health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 7.530. Of these, 412 patients are hospitalized at intensive care units.

Until today, 1.240.273 tests have been processed at national level. Of these, 14.215 were performed in the last 24 hours, 8.525  based on the case definition and medical protocol, and 5.6920  on request.

In Romania, 4.913   people confirmed with the new coronavirus are in isolation at home, and 5.454 people are in institutionalized isolation. Also, 17.114  people are quarantined at home, and 59 persons are in institutionalized quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 711 calls were registered to the unique emergency number .

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55 of 15.05.2020 regarding some measures for preventing and combating the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and the gendarmes applied, in the last 24 hours, 1825 of contravention sanctions, amounting to 561.425 lei.

Also, through the competent structures of the Police, one crime was found yesterday, regarding the  thwart the fight against diseases, a crime provided and punished by art. 352 Penal Code.

We remind the citizens that the Ministry of Internal Affairs has operationalized, starting with 04.07.2020, a special telephone line TELVERDE (0800800165) where violations of the sanitary protection norms can be notified.

The calls are taken over by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for the verification of the notified issues.

Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other states, 5.555 Romanian citizens were confirmed as infected with COVID-19 (coronavirus): 1,891 in Italy, 570 in Spain, 124 in France, 2.616 in Germany, 157 in Great Britain, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 4 in the USA, 111 in Austria, 3 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Switzerland, 2 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 18 in Greece, 2 in Cyprus and one each in Argentina, Tunisia , Ireland, Luxembourg, the United Arab Emirates, Malta, Brazil, India, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Sweden and Congo Republic. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic and until now, 123 Romanian citizens abroad, 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 9 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the USA, 1 in Brazil and one in Congo Republic, they died.

Among the Romanian citizens confirmed with the new coronavirus, 189 were declared cured: 159 in Germany, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia.

Note: these data are obtained by the Romanian diplomatic missions and consular offices abroad, either from the competent authorities of the states of residence, insofar as these data are subject to public communication, or directly from Romanian citizens abroad.

Until 1st of August 2020, 1 728 249 cases have been reported in the EU / EEA, the United Kingdom, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland, Andorra. Most cases have been reported in the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, France and Germany.
