Until today, on August 18th, in Romania, 72.208 cases of people infected with COVID – 19 virus (coronavirus) have been confirmed.

33.135 were declared cured and discharged and 8.316 asymptomatic patients were discharged at 10 days after detection.

Following the tests performed at national level, compared to the last report, 1.014 new cases of people infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (COVID – 19) were registered, these being cases that had not previously had a positive test. The distribution by counties of the total and new cases can be found in the table below:

At the same time, so far, 3.079 people diagnosed with COVID-19 died.

Between 17.08.2020 (10:00) – 18.08.2020 (10:00) were registered 45 deaths (31 men and 14 women), of some patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Argeș, Bacău, Bihor, Brăila, Brașov, Buzău, Dâmbovița, Dolj, Galați, Gorj, Harghita, Hunedoara, Ialomița, Iași, Mehedinți, Neamț, Satu Mare, Timiș, Vaslui, Vrancea, Ilfov and Bucharest.

Among these, 2 deaths were recorded in the age group 40-49 years, 7 deaths were recorded in the age group 50-59 years, 11 deaths in the age category 60-69 years, 17 deaths in the age category 70-79 years and 8 deaths in the age category over 80 years.

In 43 cases death occurred in patients who had comorbidities. 1 patient did not have comorbidities.

In the specialized health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 7.118. Of these, 479 patients are hospitalized at intensive care units.

Until today, 1.542.094 tests have been processed at national level. Of these, 21.289 were performed in the last 24 hours, 13.290 based on the case definition and medical protocol, and 7.999 on request.

Also, since the last SGC Information, have been reported the results of 55 tests processed before the last 24 hours and submitted until August 18th.

In Romania, 9.603 people confirmed with the new coronavirus are in isolation at home, and 5.6489 people are in institutionalized isolation. Also, 26.956 people are quarantined at home, and 10 persons are in institutionalized quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 917 calls were registered to the unique emergency number 112 and 805 at TELVERDE 0800 800 358, a telephone line strictly assigned to inform.

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55 of 15.05.2020 regarding some measures for preventing and combating the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and the gendarmes applied, in the last 24 hours, 815 sanctions, amounting 174.750 lei.

We remind the citizens that the Ministry of Internal Affairs has operationalized, starting with 04.07.2020, a special telephone line TELVERDE (0800800165) where violations of the sanitary protection norms can be notified.

The calls are taken over by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for the verification of the notified issues.

Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other states, 5.918 Romanian citizens were confirmed as infected with COVID-19 (coronavirus): 1,898 in Italy, 588 in Spain, 124 in France, 2.935 in Germany, 157 in Great Britain, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 4 in the USA, 111 in Austria, 19 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Switzerland, 2 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 19 in Greece, 2 in Cyprus and one each in Argentina, Tunisia , Ireland, Luxembourg, the United Arab Emirates, Malta, Brazil, India, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Sweden, Congo Republic Hungary and Qatar. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic and until now, 123 Romanian citizens abroad, 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 9 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the USA, 1 in Brazil and one in Congo Republic, they died.

Among the Romanian citizens confirmed with the new coronavirus, 338 were declared cured: 308 in Germany, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia.

Until 17h of August 2020, 1.924.569 cases have been reported in the EU / EEA, the United Kingdom, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland, Andorra. Most cases have been reported in the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, France and Germany.
