Until today, on August 24th, in Romania, 79.330 cases of people infected with COVID – 19 virus (coronavirus) have been confirmed.

33.517 were declared cured and discharged and 9.574 asymptomatic patients were discharged at 10 days after detection.

Following the tests performed at national level, compared to the last report, 825 new cases of people infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (COVID – 19) were registered, these being cases that had not previously had a positive test. The distribution by counties of the total and new cases can be found in the table below:

At the same time, so far, 3.309  people diagnosed with COVID-19 died.

Between 23.08.2020 (10:00) – 24.08.2020 (10:00) were registered 37 deaths (18 men and 19 women), of some patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Arad, Argeș, Bacău, Bihor, Bistrița-Năsăud, Buzău, Călărași, Cluj, Constanța, Dolj, Galați, Gorj, Hunedoara, Iași, Mehedinți, Prahova, Sălaj, Sibiu, Timiș, Vâlcea, Vaslui and Bucharest.

Among these, 1 death was recorded in the age category10-19 years, 2 deaths in the age group 40-49 years, 2 deaths were recorded in the age group 50-59 years, 11 deaths in the age category 60-69 years, 12 deaths in the age category 70-79 years and 9 deaths in the age category over 80 years.

In all cases death occurred in patients who had comorbidities. In the specialized health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 7.410. Of these, 494 patients are hospitalized at intensive care units.

Until today, 1.659.135 tests have been processed at national level. Of these, 6.460 were performed in the last 24 hours, 4.493 based on the case definition and medical protocol, and 1.967 on request.

Also, since the last SGC Information, have been reported the results of 31 tests processed before the last 24 hours and submitted until August 24th.

In Romania, 10.742 people confirmed with the new coronavirus are in isolation at home, and 5.433 people are in institutionalized isolation. Also, 29.404 people are quarantined at home, and 37 persons are in institutionalized quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 654 calls were registered to the unique emergency number 112. As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55 of 15.05.2020 regarding some measures for preventing and combating the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and the gendarmes applied, in the last 24 hours, 1.207 sanctions, amounting 489.150 lei.

Also, through the competent structures of the Police, 2 crimes were found yesterday, regarding the  thwart the fight against diseases, a crime provided and punished by art. 352 Penal Code.

We remind the citizens that the Ministry of Internal Affairs has operationalized, starting with 04.07.2020, a special telephone line TELVERDE (0800800165) where violations of the sanitary protection norms can be notified.

The calls are taken over by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for the verification of the notified issues.

Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other states, 5.920 Romanian citizens were confirmed as infected with COVID-19 (coronavirus): 1,898 in Italy, 588 in Spain, 124 in France, 2.935 in Germany, 157 in Great Britain, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 4 in the USA, 111 in Austria, 20 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Switzerland, 3 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 19 in Greece, 2 in Cyprus and one each in Argentina, Tunisia , Ireland, Luxembourg, the United Arab Emirates, Malta, Brazil, India, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Sweden, Congo Republic Hungary and Qatar. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic and until now, 124 Romanian citizens abroad died: 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 9 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the USA, 1 in Brazil, one in Congo Republic and one in Greece.

Among the Romanian citizens confirmed with the new coronavirus, 338 were declared cured: 308 in Germany, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia.

Until 23rd of August 2020, 2.037.588 cases have been reported in the EU / EEA, the United Kingdom, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland, Andorra. Most cases have been reported in the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, France and Germany.
