Until today, on August 31st , in Romania, 87.540 cases of people infected with COVID – 19 virus (coronavirus) have been confirmed.

37.869 were declared cured and discharged and 10.833 asymptomatic patients were discharged at 10 days after detection.

Following the tests performed at national level, compared to the last report, 755 new cases of people infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (COVID – 19) were registered, these being cases that had not previously had a positive test. The distribution by counties of the total and new cases can be found in the table below:

At the same time, so far, 3.621 people diagnosed with COVID-19 died.

Between 30.08.2020 (10:00) – 31.08.2020 (10:00)  were registered 43 deaths (29 men and 14 women), of some patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Arad, Bacău, Bihor, Bistrița-Năsăud, Brăila, Brașov, Buzău, Dâmbovița, Dolj, Giurgiu, Ialomița, Iași, Mehedinți, Mureș, Satu Mare, Sibiu, Suceava, Timiș, Vaslui and  Bucharest.

Among these, 5 deaths were recorded in the age group 50-59 years, 10 deaths in the age category 60-69 years, 18 deaths in the age category 70-79 years and 10 deaths in the age category over 80 years.

In 40 cases death occurred in patients who had comorbidities, two deceased patients did not present comorbidities.

In the specialized health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 7.447. Of these, 506 patients are hospitalized at intensive care units.

Until today, 1.802.946 tests have been processed at national level. Of these, 6.943 were performed in the last 24 hours, 4.347 based on the case definition and medical protocol, and 2.596  on request.

Also, since the last SGC Information, have been reported the results of 370 tests processed before the last 24 hours and submitted until August 31st.

In Romania, 8.972 people confirmed with the new coronavirus are in isolation at home, and 5.847 people are in institutionalized isolation. Also, 32.891 people are quarantined at home, and 71 persons are in institutionalized quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 645 calls were registered to the unique emergency number 112.

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55 of 15.05.2020 regarding some measures for preventing and combating the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and the gendarmes applied, in the last 24 hours, 1.278 sanctions, amounting 445.300 lei.

Also, through the competent structures of the Police, one crime was found yesterday, regarding the  thwart the fight against diseases, 3 crimes provided and punished by art. 352 Penal Code.

We remind the citizens that the Ministry of Internal Affairs has operationalized, starting with 04.07.2020, a special telephone line TELVERDE (0800800165) where violations of the sanitary protection norms can be notified.

The calls are taken over by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for the verification of the notified issues.

Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other states, 6.589 Romanian citizens were confirmed as infected with COVID-19 (coronavirus): 1,898 in Italy, 1253 in Spain, 124 in France, 2.935 in Germany, 157 in Great Britain, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 4 in the USA, 111 in Austria, 20 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Switzerland, 3 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 19 in Greece, 5 in Cyprus and one each in Argentina, Tunisia , Ireland, Luxembourg, the United Arab Emirates, Malta, Brazil, India, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Sweden, Congo Republic Hungary and Qatar. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic and until now, 126 Romanian citizens abroad died: 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 11 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the USA, 1 in Brazil, one in Congo Republic and one in Greece.

Among the Romanian citizens confirmed with the new coronavirus, 338 were declared cured: 308 in Germany, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia.

Until 30th of August 2020, 2.182.822  cases have been reported in the EU / EEA, the United Kingdom, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland, Andorra. Most cases have been reported in the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, France and Germany.
