Until today, on September 17th, on the territory of Romania, 108,690 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID – 19) have been confirmed.

Data on the number of people declared cured is currently unavailable due to technical updates in the reporting system and data centralization application. This data will be communicated as soon as possible as soon as it becomes available.

Following the tests performed at national level, compared to the last report, 1,679 new cases of people infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (COVID – 19) were registered, these being cases that had not previously had a positive test. Until today, 4,312 people diagnosed with COVID-19 infection have died.

Between 16.09.2020 (10:00) – 17.09.2020 (10:00) there were registered 27 deaths (18 men and 9 women), of some patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Bacău, Bihor, Bistrița -Năsăud, Brăila, Brașov, Călărași, Dâmbovița, Galați, Harghita, Hunedoara, Maramureș, Olt, Prahova, Satu Mare, Sibiu, Timiș, Vaslui and Bucharest.

Among these, 2 deaths were recorded in the age category 40-49 years, 3 deaths in the age category 50-59 years, 7 deaths in the age category 60-69 years, 9 deaths in the age category 70-79 years and 6 deaths in the over-80s category.

26 of the registered deaths are of some patients who presented comorbidities, and for one deceased patient no comorbidities have been reported so far.

In the specialized health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 6,960. Of these, 460 are hospitalized at ATI.

Until today, 2,160,669 tests have been processed at national level. Of these, 24,025 were performed in the last 24 hours, 15,292 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 8,733 on request.

Also, since the last information made by GCS, the results of 100 tests processed before the last 24 hours and submitted by September 17 have been reported.

In Romania, 11,540 people confirmed with the new coronavirus infection are in isolation at home, and 5,807 people are in institutional isolation. Also, 38,167 people are in quarantine at home, and in institutionalized quarantine there are 7 people.

In the last 24 hours, 1,164 calls were registered to the unique emergency number 112 and 575 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), open especially for informing citizens.

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55 of 15.05.2020 on some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, in the last 24 hours, 667 sanctions for minor offenses, amounting to 163,800 lei.

Also, through the competent structures of the Police, a crime was found yesterday for thwarting the fight against diseases, a deed provided and punished by art. 352 Penal Code.

We remind the citizens that the Ministry of Internal Affairs has operationalized, starting with 04.07.2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where violations of the sanitary protection norms can be notified.

The calls are taken over by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for the verification of the notified issues.

Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other states, 6,599 Romanian citizens were confirmed as infected with COVID-19 (coronavirus): 1,905 in Italy, 1,253 in Spain, 124 in France, 2,935 in Germany, 159 in Great Britain , 28 in Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 4 in USA, 111 in Austria, 20 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Switzerland, 3 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 19 in Greece, 5 in Cyprus, 2 in India, 2 in Ukraine and one each in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, the United Arab Emirates, Malta, Brazil, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Sweden, the Republic of the Congo, Hungary and Qatar. From the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic until now, 126 Romanian citizens abroad, 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 11 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the USA, one in Brazil, one in the Republic of Congo and one in Greece, have died.

Among the Romanian citizens confirmed with the new coronavirus, 338 were declared cured: 308 in Germany, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia.

As of 16 September 2020, 2,675,637 cases have been reported in the EU / EEA, the United Kingdom, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland, Andorra. Most cases have been reported in the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, France and Germany.
