To date, on December 16th, in Romania, 571.749 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID – 19) have been confirmed.

469.499  patients were declared cured.

Following the tests performed at national level, compared to the last report, 5.991 new cases of people infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (COVID – 19) were registered, these being cases that had not previously had a positive test. The distribution by counties of the total and new cases can be found in the table below.

* Regarding the “new cases not allocated by counties”, we specify that their number is determined by the changes brought to the electronic platform through which the test results for the new coronavirus are reported and centralized. Thus, according to the new methodology, the testing centers directly introduce the results of the tests performed, and the epidemiological investigation will be performed at the level of the Public Health Directorates and the positive cases will be assigned to the county / locality to which the infected persons belong.

The coefficient of infections accumulated at 14 days, reported per 1,000 inhabitants is calculated by the Public Health Directorates, at the level of Bucharest Municipality and counties. Below you have the chart based on the reports received by CNCCI from the Public Health Directorates:

 

Aside from the newly confirmed cases, after retesting patients who were already positive, 945 people were reconfirmed positively. The distribution by county of these cases can be found in the table below.

To date, 13.862 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.

Between 15.12.2020 (10:00) – 16.12.2020 (10:00) were reported 164 deaths (112 men and 52 women), of some patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Alba, Arad, Argeș, Bacău,  Bistrița-Năsăud, Botoșani, Brăila, Brașov, Buzău, Călărași, Caraș-Severin, Cluj, Constanța, Covasna, Dâmbovița, Dolj, Galați, Ialomița, Iași, Maramureș, Mehedinți, Mureș, Neamț, Prahova, Satu Mare, Sălaj, Sibiu, Suceava, Teleorman, Timiș, Tulcea, Vaslui, Vrancea, Ilfov and Bucharest.

Of these, 1 death was recorded in the age category 20-29 years, 1 death the age category 30-39 years, 6 deaths in the age category 40-49 years, 12 deaths in the age category 50-59 years, 38 deaths in the age category 60-69 years, 60 deaths in the age category 70-79 years and 46 deaths in the age group over 80 years.

158 of the registered deaths were of some patients who presented comorbidities, 4 deceased patients had no comorbidities and for one patient there were no comorbidities reported so far.

In the specialized health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 11.977. Of these, 1.267 are hospitalized at ATI.

To date, 4.505.916  tests have been processed at the national level. Of these, 28.191  were performed in the last 24 hours, 17.926 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 10.265 upon request.

Also, since the last information made by GCS, the results of 16410 tests processed before the last 24 hours and transmitted until December 16 have been reported.

In Romania, 43109 people confirmed with the new coronavirus infection are in isolation at home, and 11298 people are in institutional isolation. Also, 66541 people are in quarantine at home, and 124 people are in institutionalized quarantine.

In the last 24 hours 3839 calls were registered to the unique emergency number 112 and 874 at Telverde.

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55/2020 on some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, on December 15 a.c., 5672  sanctions for minor offenses, amounting to 1.051.660 lei.

Also, through the competent structures of the Police, 2 offenses were found yesterday to thwart the fight against diseases, a deed provided and punished by art. 352 Penal Code.

We remind the citizens that the Ministry of Internal Affairs has operationalized, starting with 04.07.2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where violations of the sanitary protection norms can be notified.

The calls are taken over by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for the verification of the notified issues.

Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other states, 7031 Romanian citizens were confirmed as infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (coronavirus): 1,936 in Italy, 1,283 in Spain, 125 in France, 3,085 in Germany, 167 in the United Kingdom, 49 in Denmark, 36 in Hungary, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 4 in the USA, 123 in Austria, 22 in Belgium, 8 in Sweden, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 8 in Switzerland, 3 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 93 in Greece, 10 in Cyprus, 2 in India, 2 in Ukraine, 8 in the United Arab Emirates, 11 in the Republic of Moldova, 2 in Bulgaria and one each in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Brazil, Kazakhstan, Republic of Congo , Qatar, Vatican, Portugal and Egypt. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic and until now, 127 Romanian citizens abroad, 32 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 11 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the USA, one in Brazil, one in the Republic of Congo and one in Greece, have died.

Of the Romanian citizens confirmed with the new coronavirus infection, 798 were declared cured: 677 in Germany, 90 in Greece, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia.

Note: these data are obtained by the Romanian diplomatic missions and consular offices abroad, either from the competent authorities of the states of residence, insofar as these data are subject to public communication, or directly from Romanian citizens abroad.

We remind citizens to consider only the information verified by official sources and to call for recommendations and other information on the line TELVERDE – 0800.800.358. The TELVERDE number is not an emergency number, it is a telephone line strictly assigned to inform citizens and is valid for national calls, from Monday to Friday, between 08.00 and 20.00. Also, Romanians abroad can request information about preventing and combating the virus at the line specially dedicated to them, +4021.320.20.20.

Below we present the situation regarding the infection with the SARS – CoV – 2 virus at European and global level:

As of 14th december 2020, 15.083.443 cases have been reported in the EU / EEA, the United Kingdom, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland, Andorra. Most cases have been reported in France, Spain, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Germany.

As of 15 December, the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CEPCB) has stopped publishing data on the number of confirmed cases and the number of deceased citizens, both in the EU / EEA, the United Kingdom, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland, Andorra and globally. These reports will be updated weekly, starting on 17 December 2020.

The data published by the Johns Hopkins CSSE, which covers the number of healed citizens, continues to be updated daily.
