To date, on December 19th, in Romania, 587.944 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID – 19) have been confirmed.
493.379 patients were declared cured.
Following the tests performed at national level, compared to the last report, 5.158 new cases of people infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (COVID – 19) were registered, these being cases that had not previously had a positive test. The distribution by counties of the total and new cases can be found in the table below.

* Regarding the “new cases not allocated by counties”, we specify that their number is determined by the changes brought to the electronic platform through which the test results for the new coronavirus are reported and centralized. Thus, according to the new methodology, the testing centers directly introduce the results of the tests performed, and the epidemiological investigation will be performed at the level of the Public Health Directorates and the positive cases will be assigned to the county / locality to which the infected persons belong.
The coefficient of infections accumulated at 14 days, reported per 1,000 inhabitants is calculated by the Public Health Directorates, at the level of Bucharest Municipality and counties. Below you have the chart based on the reports received by CNCCI from the Public Health Directorates:
Aside from the newly confirmed cases, after retesting patients who were already positive, 937 people were reconfirmed positively. The distribution by county of these cases can be found in the table below.

To date, 14.296 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.
Between 18.12.2020 (10:00) – 19.12.2020 (10:00) were reported 139 deaths (181 men and 58 women), of some patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Alba, Arad, Argeș, Bacău, Bihor, Botoșani, Brăila, Brașov, Buzău, Călărași, Caraș-Severin, Cluj, Constanța, Covasna, Dolj, Galați, Gorj, Harghita, Hunedoara, Iași, Maramureș, Mehedinți, Mureș, Prahova, Satu Mare, Sibiu, Suceava, Timiș, Tulcea, Ilfov and Bucharest.
Of these, 1 death was recorded in the age category 0-9 years, 2 deaths in the category 30-39 years, 1 death in the age category 40-49 years, 13 deaths in the age category 50-59 years, 36 deaths in the age category 60-69 years, 36 deaths in the age category 70-79 years and 47 deaths in the age group over 80 years.
137 of the registered deaths were of some patients who presented comorbidities, 1 patient had no comorbidities and for 1 deceased patient there were no comorbidities reported so far.
In the specialized health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 11.316. Of these, 1.274 are hospitalized at Intensive Care Units.
To date, 4.587.552 tests have been processed at the national level. Of these, 25.788 were performed in the last 24 hours, 16.650 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 9.138 upon request.
Also, since the last information made by GCS, the results of 38 tests processed before the last 24 hours and transmitted until December 19 have been reported.
In Romania, 41.757 people confirmed with the new coronavirus infection are in isolation at home, and 10.864 people are in institutional isolation. Also, 62.966 people are in quarantine at home, and 127 people are in institutionalized quarantine.
In the last 24 hours, 3.638 calls were registered to the unique emergency number 112 and 1.097 to TELVERDE (0800 800 358).
As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55/2020 on some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, on December 18th, 6.643 sanctions for minor offenses, amounting to 1.255.330 lei.
Also, through the competent structures of the Police,3 crimes ware found yesterday for thwarting the fight against diseases, a crime provided and punished by art. 352 Penal Code.
We remind the citizens that the Ministry of Internal Affairs has operationalized, starting with 04.07.2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where violations of the sanitary protection norms can be notified.
The calls are taken over by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for the verification of the notified issues.
Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other states, 7.036 Romanian citizens were confirmed as infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (coronavirus): 1.938 in Italy, 1,283 in Spain, 125 in France, 3,085 in Germany, 167 in the United Kingdom, 93 in Greece, 49 Denmark, 36 in Hungary, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 4 in the USA, 4 in Sweden, 123 in Austria, 22 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 11 in Switzerland, 3 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 2 in Bulgaria, 10 in Cyprus, 2 in India, 2 in Ukraine, 8 in the United Arab Emirates, 12 in the Republic of Moldova, 2 in Montenegro, and one each in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Brazil, Kazakhstan, Republic of Congo , Qatar, Vatican, Portugal, Egypt and Russia. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic and until now, 128 Romanian citizens abroad, 33 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 11 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the USA, one in Brazil, one in the Republic of Congo and one in Greece, have died.
Of the Romanian citizens confirmed with the new coronavirus infection, 798 were declared cured: 677 in Germany, 90 in Greece, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg, one in Tunisia and one in Argentina.

As of 17th of December 2020, 15.130.100 cases have been reported in the EU / EEA, the United Kingdom, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland, Andorra. Most cases have been reported in France, Spain, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Germany.
Beginning with 15th of December, the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CEPCB) has stopped publishing data on the number of confirmed cases and the number of deceased citizens, both in the EU / EEA, the United Kingdom, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland, Andorra and globally. These reports will be updated weekly.
The data published by the Johns Hopkins CSSE, which covers the number of healed citizens, continues to be updated daily.
