*Regarding the “new cases not allocated by counties”, we specify that their number is determined by the changes brought to the electronic platform through which the test results for the new coronavirus are reported and centralized. Thus, according to the new methodology, the testing centers directly introduce the results of the tests performed, following that the epidemiological investigation will be performed at the level of the Public Health Directorates and the positive cases will be assigned to the county / locality to which the infected persons belong.

**Regarding the cases from abroad, these are cases of some citizens who came to Romania being infected in other countries. These cases were included in the total number of new cases not allocated by counties.

The coefficient of infections accumulated over 14 days, reported per 1,000 inhabitants is calculated by the Public Health Directorates, at the level of Bucharest Municipality and counties. Below you have the chart based on the reports received by CNCCI from the Public Health Directorates:

Until today, a total of 1.964.021 cases of infection with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been registered in Romania on January 19th, of which 25.473 are from re-infected patients, tested positive for more than 180 days days after the first infection.

1.806.581 patients were declared cured.

Apart from the newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who were already positive, 1.394 people were reconfirmed positively. The distribution by county of these cases can be found in the table below.

Until today, 59.428 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.

Between 19.01.2022 (10:00) – 20.01.2022 (10:00) were reported by the INSP 43 deaths (17 men and 26 women), of which 4 prior to the reference interval, of some patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in hospitals in Arad, Argeș, Bacău, Botoșani, Brăila, Brașov, Cluj, Covasna, Gorj, Hunedoara, Maramureș, Mureș,  Prahova, Satu Mare, Sălaj, Sibiu, Suceava, Timiș, Vaslui and Bucharest.

Of the 43 deaths, 3  were recorded in the 30-39 age group, 1 in the 40-49 age group, 3 were recorded in the 50-59 age group, 8 in the 60-69 age group, 11 in the 70-79 age group, and 17 in the age group over 80 years.

42 of the registered deaths were of some patients who presented with comorbidities, and for 1 patient no comorbidities have been reported so far.

Out of a total of 43 patients who died, 37 were unvaccinated and 6 were vaccinated. The vaccinated patients were aged between 50-59 and over 80 years. 5 of them presented comorbidities, and 1 had no comorbidities.

There were reported 4 deaths before the reference interval, which occurred in the counties of Argeș, Bacău and Bucharest, one in November 2021 and 2 in December 2021.

In the specialized health units, the number of people hospitalized in wards with COVID-19 is 4.945, 411 more than the previous day. Also, 547 people are hospitalized at ICU, 17 more than the day before. Of the 547 patients admitted to ICU, 63 have a certificate attesting the vaccination.

Out of the total number of hospitalized patients, 414 are minors, 401 being hospitalized in wards, 27 more than the previous day and 13 in ICU, similar to the previous day.

Until today, 11.510.947 RT-PCR tests and 6.775.520 rapid antigen tests have been processed nationwide. In the last 24 hours, 26.281 RT-PCR tests were performed (14.249 based on case definition and medical protocol and 12.032 on request) and 52.659 rapid antigen tests.

In today’s report from alerte.ms.ro, for the RT PCR tests there is 1 laboratory that made the first report, so there is a surplus of 4.491 tests out of the total RT PCR tests performed so far. The laboratory sent explanatory emails to INSP in which they confirmed the data reported in alerte.ms.ro..

This correction does not affect the number of positive people, because each positive test is reported in coronaforms at the time of processing.

The number of positive people today is only the result of tests performed in the last 24 hours.

In Romania, 80.446 people confirmed with the new coronavirus infection are in isolation at home, and 4.462 people are in institutional isolation. Also, 72.720 people are in quarantine at home, and in institutionalized quarantine there are 93 people.
