On July 22nd, 2023, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs Cătălin Predoiu had a meeting with the Minister of the Interior of the State of Palestine, Ziyad Mahmoud Mohammed Habalreeh, on the occasion of the Graduation Ceremony of the „Alexandru Ioan Cuza” Police Academy – Class of 2023. Among the graduates were Palestinian scholarship students who attended the Fire Department’s courses within the Academy.
The two officials discussed the possibilities of developing cooperation in the field of internal affairs, based on the traditional nature of bilateral relations. The Romanian official dignitary reiterated the support provided by Romania for the consolidation of Palestinian institutions, which also includes the scholarships granted by the Romanian state to Palestinian students in several fields, including civil defense.
On this occasion, the two dignitaries also signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the ministries of the interior in the field of civil protection, which will contribute to strengthening the capacity of the two states to react in case of disasters and other emergency situations.
